On the occasion of her state visit on 3rd of October 2007 the concept study for the New Zoological Garden for Addis Ababa was presented by The Chancellor of The Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. Angela Merkel, as a gift to The Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Meles Zenawi.
